And happy holidays to all of you, and to all of our favorite fandoms!
Merry Christmas, y’all!
Sam - The Two Towers
Do I become too geeky to live if I quote any part of this speech when speaking at a funeral?
Because my cousin did introduce me to LotR, one of the great loves of my life, and I have watched this clip hundreds of time this year trying to feel hope in the darkest time in my life, but…I’d also be quoting Samwise Gamgee.
I’m just terrible at this kind of public speaking, where I’m not explaining an intellectual concept but I’m supposed to be talking about a person, articulating what they mean to me. I so badly want to say something, but I just don’t know how.
This combines three of my favorite things:
1) Viggo Mortensen’s face.
2) People reading books.
3) Viggo Mortensen’s face.

It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why.

He’s one of them Rangers. They’re dangerous folk, wandering the Wilds. What his right name is, I’ve never heard, but around here he’s known as Strider.

On This Day: On this Day (Dec 10) in 2001—ten years ago—was the The Fellowship of the Ring World Premiere in London.
This is why photosets were created.
Actually the best cast of all time.
I miss this cast. I miss how much I loved this cast. It was my first real fandom and pretty much the only time in any fandom I’ve been a quarter that invested in the actors.

This is the problem with waking up at 4 AM! You eat one crappy muffin the second Starbucks opens for breakfast, but by 9 you’re ready for second breakfast and Aragorn just looks at you like you’re an idiot.
(Well, truthfully…if Aragorn were here right now the chances of my thinking about breakfast would be slim to none.)

Just watched Van Helsing in French on TV. Kept wishing David Wenham would stand up straight and reclaim his dreamboat hair from Van Helsing, who appears to have stolen it.

This screencap makes me ‘ship Aragorn/Gandalf.
